RE:DRAGON BOAT PROJECT

Dr Don McKenzie, a sports medicine physician ran a study to test the theory that repetitive upper-body exercise in those treated for breast cancer could cause lymphodeema, a chronic swelling of the arm.

Dr McKenzie believed that by following a special exercise and dragon boat training programme, people could avoid lymph-oedema and enjoy active full lives.  The initial group was carefully monitored and no new cases of lymph-oedema occurred and none of the existing cases became worse.

It  encourage people that have suffered breast cancer to get involved to

–         get fit

–         enjoy the mutual support of team mates

–         raise awareness of breast cancer

There are over 140 breast cancer boat teams in the world.

Please be advised this event is for patients suffering from Breast Cancer only
